PROJECT DETAILS

Universal Harmony is an installation at the newly opening Museum of the Future. (2021)

"Guests harmonize their humming or singing as a means of bringing to life a levitating gemstone. Once the group's voice is in harmony, the gemstone bathes guests in a shower of magical, relaxing and otherworldly light, scent and sounds that trigger the alpha brainwaves known to improve human creativity."

Our clients (DEEPLOCAL) shared a mood board (image above) and explained their key interest in making this experience feel organic. Our inspiration for the visuals came from stars and galaxies; a concept of energy that is both tangible but also surreal. The challenge was to find the balance between something recognizable but not too obvious, something technical but not mechanical.

Star Tests

Video of initial concept ideas of stars. Exploring geometric shapes to something more organic, we defined how to visually communicate with the guest that the room, specifically the gemstone, is responding to their interaction.

Star on Surface

This is an iteration of the star element projected on to the surface. We were able to calibrate and test the projection before final installation and gather data on guests' feedback and reaction to the experience.

Universal Harmony: Pro Gallery

Our team also focused on the lighting of the surrounding walls to make the experience more immersive. The concept animatic (video on the right) was created to visualize how the projection and lighting components respond to the guests' interaction with the installation.
